How much does Google advertising cost?

How much does it cost to advertise on the Gogole Ads platform and what budget do I need?

Clients often ask, “If I pay 1000.00 EUR does that mean that I will be the first on Google search engine ?

To get started, to answer these questions, you should start with keyword research and find out how much search volume and cost-per-click (CPC) you have for a particular keyword you want to advertise in your Google campaign.

We use Google's tool to calculate the required budget for a Google Ads campaign Google Keyword planner. In order to use this tool, we need to have an open Google Ads account, otherwise we will not be able to use Google's Google Ads Campaign Budget Estimator.

When calculating the budget for a Google Ads campaign, we will assume that the Google Ads account is well placed, and that the offer we advertise is satisfactory as well as the landing page (the website the visitor comes to first).

It should also be noted that when researching keywords, it is necessary to analyze a deeper segment of the market that is profitable for you, and plan keyword analysis according to profitable market segment, where you make the most money.

How do I plan the required budget for a Google Ads campaign?

At the very beginning of budget planning we need to look at keyword research and the average cost-per-click for each keyword we bid for in the auction, the budget of our Google Ads campaign will depend greatly how many keywords will we include in our Google Ads account, and also the cost of a click for a particular keyword will depend on the competition that also wants to advertise for a particular keyword.

When choosing keywords for our campaign and how much the campaign will cost us, it is very important that we choose relevant keywords which users, your future customers, will click on.

In short, it is important that the budget is spent, because then we are sure that we have chosen the relevant keywords. However, if the budget is not spent, and the campaign is running, you probably don't have relevant keywords placed in your Google Ads account.

Below you can see what the interface looks like inside  Google Keyword Planner, within which we can see, for example, the keywords and search volume that Google showed us in our query “apartments zadar”.

In this case, Google keyword planner showed us keywords and suggestions that we can take into consideration when planning a campaign and add them to our account when planning a campaign. More details about Google Keyword Planner will be in one of the next posts.

Once we’ve selected the relevant keywords within Google Keyword Planner, we can see how Google Keyword Planner is to us showed a projection of the campaign and required budget with which we will generate the number of clicks on our ad, the cost per click on the ad, and also Google Keyword Planner shows us the average position of our ad on Google search engine, which in concrete example 1.7.

In the photo we can clearly see how much Google advertising costs us according to the parameters from Google.

Also, what is interesting in the projection of the campaign for selected keywords, is the graph that shows us for the future period the demand for certain keywords at certain times of the year, e.g. the keyword “zadar apartments” from the above chart and projection can be concluded that according to Google Keyword Planner it will be the most searched in the summer months of this year.

Google Keyword Planner and Campaign Budget Planning for example

We will show how much it costs us to advertise on the Google Ads platform with one example. The owner of the apartment wants to advertise his apartments and his goal is for the visitor to send an inquiry or reservation via the website.

When planning a campaign when we want to know how much Google Ads advertising costs us, we can assume the following.

Assuming our conversion rate is 4% (the number of visitors to our website who have achieved a certain goal in this case sent an inquiry via the contact form), with an estimated number of 230 clicks that Google Keyword Planner displays, we can project that we will receive a total of 9 queries via the contact form from the website (230 x 0.04 = 9.2).

Some of the above 9 inquiries, 25% of them booked an apartment by paying in advance, we get 2 apartment reservations.

This data from 9 inquiries should be taken with a grain of salt, because the calculation is based on data from the past and the data are not completely accurate, where a deviation of 30% more than the planned budget should be expected to achieve the set campaign results.

What should we consider when planning a budget for advertising on Google?

When planning and projecting a campaign budget on Google Ads, keep in mind that each ad position on Google search is paid a different price, and all advertisers, their clients want the ad to be at the top, in the first four positions on Google search.

Of course, the more competition there is for one ad position on the Google search engine, the more it is cijena po kliku more (CPC).

The next thing to consider when projecting a budget is the time period when we advertise for a particular keyword, e.g.apartments zadar” will be searched much less in the winter months than in the summer, so it is possible that we will not have a sufficient volume of searches for the specified keyword, consequently, and conversion, ie. queries will be less from our website.

It is important to point out that the campaign budget will depend on the deadlines within which we want to achieve the desired results, and if we want to achieve certain results sooner we will need to invest more, while for a longer period we can plan a smaller budget.

For some products, such as buying a car sales cycle ie. the customer's decision to buy a car is much longer, in which case we need to plan keywords and budget for a longer period of the campaign to cover the entire sales cycle of our customer.

To summarize, when planning a budget for a Google Ads campaign, we use Google Keyword Planner, Google’s campaign budgeting tool on the Google Ads platform. Google Keyword Planner, Google-ov alat za planiranje budžeta kampanje na Google Ads platformi.

We use the tool to enter the keywords for which we want to run an ad campaign for which our ads will be displayed on the Google Ads search engine. The price of each keyword depends on the competition, demand, position for which we advertise on Google search engine.

On our example, we came to the assumption that for 230 clicks we will get for sure 2 reservations of apartments in Zadar with a budget of 380.00 Kn. Other assumptions should be taken into account in budget planning, as the data collected by Google is historical and there is a possibility of deviations in the projections.
